Burns says Gloucester Rugby will bounce back

Freddie Burns has insisted it will be the little things that will make a huge difference in the season of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club Gloucester Rugby as they approach the business end of the season.

The Cherry and Whites’ push for a place in Europe took a massive blow as they suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of the London Wasps last weekend but Burns is confident Gloucester will be able to recover.

The Cherry and Whites went to London to take on the Wasps with both teams knowing a win would put them in pole position to secure a playoff spot with the side finishing in seventh in the French Top 14, with the winner earning a passage into the inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup.

But despite the 38-30 defeat on the weekend, Burns believes the way Gloucester Rugby played, never allowing the London Wasps to rest at ease all through the game. Burns stated that with some very fine tuning, the club can still end the season in the European places with just two round of the Premiership remaining.

Burns stated that he was pleased to go out there and play the way he likes to play. He admitted that it had been a very disappointing season for him personally and he is very happy to have been able to put up a performance like he did. Although the loss dampened the mood somewhat, he is confident of an immediate turnaround in the fortunes of the club.

According to Burns, Gloucester Rugby was punished for not taking the chances that they created and the Wasps, despite playing at home and having led for most of the game, never looked comfortable and he is taking a lot of heart from the performance that the team showed.
