Tom Voyce, the ARCH finisher for the Aviva Premiership side Gloucester Rugby is almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season after the coach Bryan Redpath decided not to offer him a contract extension.
He has instead turned his attention to recruiting a new winger for the club as it looks to strengthen itself ahead of a possible Heineken Cup qualification and for the next year’s Aviva Premiership as well when they will look to take on the big guns such as Harlequins, Saracens, the Leicester Tigers and the Northampton Saints and fight for the title.
The club has one of the best scouting networks of all the clubs in the Aviva Premiership and it had been reported by the media for months that they had been looking for a younger winger. However, there were also contrary reports that suggested that Voyce was close to signing a contract extension with the club but as it stands now, he is more or less certain to leave Gloucester Rugby in the summer for pastures anew.
The club is currently lying in 6th position and although they are favorites to end up in the Heineken Cup come the end of the season, Redpath wants a stronger and younger squad to take to the elite club competition in rugby and looks set for a summer clear out of many players, starting with the former London Wasps and Bath Rugby man. The England man also wanted to stay at the club after a miraculous resurgence in form over the last 18 months or so, but at the moment, he needs to search for a new club with the Newcastle Falcons trying to sign him.
But it is worth seeing who Gloucester Rugby end up signing as a replacement for the England wing ace.
